If you join the IANA Network, register for a Network event or activity, complete a survey, or provide feedback, please also read our Membership Privacy Notice.
The Membership Privacy Notice explains how we collect and use membership-related personal data, including the information we collect, why we collect it, our lawful bases for processing, how we communicate with members, who the information may be shared with, how long it is retained, and the rights and choices available to you.

How is your data kept secure?
The University of Portsmouth takes information security seriously and uses appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or destruction.
Access to personal data is restricted to people who need it for their work, and the University regularly reviews its security arrangements. Further information is available in the University’s Data Protection Policy.

How long is your data kept?
The IANA Network will retain personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or where retention is required for legal, regulatory, funding or legitimate operational reasons.
Retention periods will be determined in accordance with the University’s Retention Policy. When personal data is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.
Further information about the retention of membership-related data is provided in our Membership Privacy Notice.

What rights do you have?
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you the right to:
  • request access to the personal data held about you;
  • ask for inaccurate or incomplete information to be corrected;
  • request the deletion of your personal data;
  • request that processing be restricted;
  • object to certain uses of your personal data;
  • request the transfer of your personal data; and
  • withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
Some of these rights apply only in particular circumstances.
